To me, tidying up, and cleaning, are two completely different things.

Tidying up, is removing surface clutter and making things look nice, whereas cleaning is getting in, getting dirty… and …well..cleaning:)

Over the years I have developed 2 quick ways to tidy up and get rid of mess:) There is the ‘Dump and Run’ method for a big mess…lol, and the ‘Pickup’ for maintenance throughout the day. And let me tell you…I am constantly doing a pickup, with a messy husband, a much much loved dog , and a little boy;) Note. The husband is the messiest of them all.

So here goes with my ‘Dump & Run’ explanation…for a BIG mess tidied QUICKLY!!!

Step 1 – Start wherever you are standing:)
Step 2 – Pick up as much stuff as you can, that does not belong in that room
Step 3 – Run from room to room, dumping all the different stuff in the rooms it belongs. You don’t need to put it where it goes…that takes too long!!! Just…chuck it in:)
Step 4 – When your hands are empty, do it all again, and again, until there is nothing left in any room that doesn’t belong there
Step 5 – This is where the actual tidying takes place, go room by room and put away all the stuff you chucked in. I like to start in the tidiest rooms so you feel like you have gotten more done…

And here is the ‘Pickup’ run down…where the house is pretty tidy, but there are THINGS everywhere…and you need it tidied QUICK!!!

I feel I do this ALL DAY LONG!!!!!! lol lol

Step 1 – Start wherever you are standing:)
Step 2 – Pick up as much stuff as you can, that does not belong in that room
Step 3 – Go from room to room, putting all the different stuff away where it actually belongs:)
Step 4 – This is the SECRET step. Don’t leave a room, unless you have picked up something that does not belong there. If you have nothing to pickup, you are nearly done!!!! Yay!!! If you concentrate on always taking something with you, you are working smarter, not harder!!!
Step 5 – Keep picking up and putting things away where they belong
Step 6 – TIDY HOUSE!!!

And just remember the SECRET step!! Don’t leave a room, unless you have picked up something that does not belong there.
